"SILENCE" is the story about KATELYN WILDE, a 24 year old woman that lives a normal life. She has 4 great friends, a wonderful father that had to raise her when her mother died 13 years earlier. Her world comes crashing in on her when she is brutally raped and must try and rebuild her life and her relationships.
The original idea for "SILENCE" came out of a regular summer visit from my oldest daughter Jillian Braley. We always had done some type of video project whenever she came for her yearly visit. In 2009 Jillian came for her visit and we were watching Rob Zombie's "Halloween" and trying to come up with ideas for our yearly video project. Jillian wanted to do a Zombie type film. Know full well that there was no way that would be possible I asked her to think about something that is really scary that could actually happen. A few minutes later, Silence was born.
We worked on the story line and script for a short version of the film, which we shot in March of 2010. It starred newcomer Whitnie Mauney, from Boise, Idaho. After the short version was finished, Whitnie and I began talks about making a feature length version for the audience to get a chance to get to know the character of KATELYN. The ball is rolling now with the finished script we will be ready to shoot in October 2011 in Boise, Idaho.
"As I was writing the script I continued to check on rape crisis web sites getting information about what rape victims experience after this horrible act. What I found was that the short film was part real and part fiction. I wanted the feature version to be more about Katelyn and her friends and family versus a suspense/thriller that the short film was. So I went for realism and I beleive that I hit the mark."
